Noon / Laura Sperl
Yellow turns into Blue, Blue turns into Orchid, Orchid into Violet, Violet to Ultra Violet, Ultra Violet into Amaranth Purple, Rusty Red into Pale Purple, Salmon Pink into African Violet, African Violet to Pale Purple, Pale Purple into Cosmic Latte, Sky Magenta into Wisteria, Lavender to Uranian blue,..
NOON is a visual and haptic experience of the passage of time and an invitation to be part of continuous change. The book consists of seven series of a mixture of photograms and chemigrams which resulted from experimentation with sea water and sand on photographic paper, exposed to sunlight. The analogue images were not fixated and and were left to change naturally over a period of two weeks.
The evolution of the images over time is captured through digital photography and results in a cinematic experience across 88 pages in the book. Viewers are not only invited to contemplate on the images, but to actually observe that they themselves are actively involved in the processes of change by leaving traces of their hands on the thermo sensitive cover.
In her work, Laura Sperl keeps exploring processes of change, uncontrollable influences and human action in this field of uncertainty and the unknown.
