Nuno Andrade has been developing photographic documentary work, exploring the people and places within the city he lives in - Almada, on the south bank of the Tagus River, near Lisbon.

During this residency, Nuno was able to transform into a book a project he developed between 2014-15 on a forgotten beach in Almada. For some, this was just a beach lost in time; for others the place where they struggle to survive. Those who inhabit this enclave lead lives on the margins of society. They have learned to live without being able to rely on anything and anyone, only on the tide - which always comes at the scheduled time...

The result of this residency was published by XYZ Books in January 2022.
