Catarina’s photographic work stands between the autobiographical and fictional, playing with the ideas of reality and imagination, the visible and invisible. With photography, she tries to get closer to the world, to comprehend it, and reveal its true essence.

Catarina was able to transform into a book a series she developed between 2017-19 in her hometown in Portugal and in the south of France. She keeps returning to the same places to capture the amazed expressions of the sea or exploring the intimacy with friends and family. Catarina creates fiction with a dramatic vein, which reflects our fragile and mysterious relation with nature and the invisible divine.
