88 / 98
Covering a 10 years’ period of the life of Portuguese photographer Inês Gonçalces (b. 1964, Lisbon), “88-98” is a book made of reproductions collected from other books and catalogues published by the author during one of the most prolific periods of her long professional life, during which she established herself as an important landmark in the landscape of Portuguese fashion photography. Departing from an original concept conceived in partnership with lens based artist Federico Clavarino (b. Turin, 1984), “88-98” takes its form by following a peculiar strategy of graphic and editorial reinterpretation, in which elements from different contexts are put together in a new sequence that, nevertheless, preserves Gonçalves’ photographic ethos.
